Being THANKFUL Just Because

If you could think of the FIVE most memorable things God has done for you, what would they be? Not counting that God wakes each one of us every day, feeds us and clothes us. Trust me, I am truly grateful for daily wake ups, food and clothing because God’s word says take no thought about what you shall eat or drink because our Heavenly Father would provide those for us. Right?  Matthew 6

There's always something to be thankful for

Now again, what would be the FIVE most memorable things you would mention, that God has done for you? I’ll go first:

1. He brought me out of darkness and saved my soul. Everyday I am learning more and more about God, salvation and how to live holy. I thank God for not letting me continue in my sinful state, but called me out of it (darkness). 1 Peter 2:9

2. I thank God for my beautiful children and grands. They are truly blessngs.

3. I thank God for how HE allowed me to be placed in foster care and for the first 11 years of my life, had me to live with a GODLY, HOLY, PRAYING WOMAN. God’s ways are not our ways….so HE truly had a plan for my life. When I think of the alternative, even though things were kind of rough, GOD was there with me all the time.

4. I thank God for filling me with His Holy Spirit at a young age. The Holy Spirit is so wonderful and I truly need HIM on a daily basis.

5. I thank God for my husband. He is patient, kind, loving, longsuffering, funny, a peacemaker, and a saved man. He is the best husband for me.

Now, it’s your turn! Ready? Set. Go!!

I Will Praise You, O God!

Tag anyone who you know is going through a rough time right now due to a diagnosis or an ongoing medical condition. Just know that God is bigger than the diagnosis and yes, He is a healer. We just have to remember to keep praising Him through it all. It may hurt…..Praise HIM. You may cry….Praise HIM. You may even ask “why?”, but Praise HIM any way.

I will Praise You O God
through all of the pain
I will Praise You O God
In Sunshine and Rain.
I will Praise You O God
Whatever life may bring
I will Praise You O God
Of Your Love I will sing.
I will Praise You O God
Even through the tears
I will Praise You O God
even through my fears.
I will Praise You O God
Because Your love never ends
I will Praise You O God
Because on You, my life depends.
I will Praise You O God
Because my soul longs for You
I will Praise You O God
Because praise helps me get through.
Through the diagnosis and the doctor reports
and the fear in my mind.
Praise helps me to remember
that You are always on time.
So no matter what, God,
I’ll Praise You and be glad
I’ll Praise You now matter what.
Yes, even through the good and through the bad.
You are worthy O God
You are worthy to be praised.
You are worthy of God
And my arms will I raise
To You to say thank You God
Because I know You are with me
To say Thank You O God
Because I have Victory.
So no matter what it feels like
or looks like too,
I will Praise You O God
For ALL that You Do.

Condemnation or Love –

I have been thinking lately about how certain people have been treated mistreated by the “church”. There is one group in particular, the gay community, who have been targeted and demeaned by those who proclaim to know and Love God. I have a confession: I was one of those people who condemned the gay community as those going to hell because their lifestyle is contrary to what the Bible teaches. However, recently, God has been giving me more of HIS HEART towards ALL MANKIND and that is HIS HEART OF LOVE.

I began thinking, “How can I minister to the gay community, the love of God?” or How can I minister to the woman or man who sells their body for sex or drugs?” “How will I minister to the alcoholic who curses God every chance he or she gets?” How Lord can I show these people YOUR LOVE?

My heart has taken a turn to LOVE and away from CONDEMNATION. I looked into the eyes of a homosexual man, on Thursday, and at first, I was put off by his obvious female gestures, talk and posture, but then I heard him say something that forever changed my perspective about the gay community…..”We hurt just like anybody else”. Now, I know everybody has a point in their life where they hurt, emotionally, but is it the job of the Christian to add more hurt to the hurting?

While I am totally opposed to same sex relationships, how can I win any to God or even show God’s love to them if I am approaching them in condemnation? I know how it feels for someone to tell me that I am going to hell because of my rebellious, disobedient behavior. That was not something I would think a loving God would say to me. It made me feel like I didn’t want to know God and I know that is the way a lot of people who engage in the same sex lifestyle feel. I don’t want to add to that any longer. I want to show love to EVERYBODY just as God showed HIS love to ME when I walked contrary to HIS word and HIS way. God has never condemned me but His Holy Spirit convicted me of my sin. The Holy Spirit showed me where I erred and lovingly prompted me to learn the ways of God and to walk in them without trying to figure out in my natural mind….the mind of Christ.

See, our natural minds are finite. We, in our natural/human state cannot fully understand the things and ways of God, but what we DO know is what we should demonstrate to those who are hurting for whatever reason.

God did not call us to be Christian Bullies. He did not call us to Kill the soul of another person, but HE DID call us to LOVE one another. I wholeheartedly do not agree with the idea of same-sex relationships/marriages and I don’t think I ever will, but I am determined to walk in love towards those who either don’t know the Bible truth, rebel against Bible truth, are confused by Bible Truth, or just don’t even care about Bible Truth. I will, lovingly point out scriptures which reference same sex activities, but I will not beat anybody upon the head with the Bible trying to force them to believe what I believe. I don’t do that to alcoholics, fornicators, liars, thieves, adulterers, murderers, those who sow discord, etc., so I won’t do it to one particular group.

Everybody has a soul where their emotions dwell. I don’t want to be a agent of hate towards any human being for we all have fallen short of the Glory of God. Not one of us have walked 100 before the God we SAY we serve.

Yes, I will continue to preach the Word of God, but I will not condemn.
Yes, I will continue to teach the Word of God, but I will not condemn.
I will show love……….to ……..every……human being just as God has shown love to me.

Black Friday or Black Friday

christ-149313_640      OR                     Black Friday (Red bag)

During this time of the year, we hear SO MUCH about “Black Friday” shopping. Retailers spend millions of dollars in advertising in an effort to persuade consumers to spend their money on items that will lose their value as soon as it leaves the store or showroom floor.

  • Cell phone companies tell you of the newest phone and why you should purchase it. (New phones can cost anywhere from $300 and up – depending on brand and service provider)
  • Car manufacturers/dealerships try to persuade you as to why you need THEIR CAR. They tell you how fast the car can go (although city speed limits are far beyond the speeds displayed on the commercials).
  • Electronic companies want you to buy their television, their gaming system, their earphones, etc. (Televisions can range anywhere from $120 to thousands (depending on size, make, model and company selling the item).

All of these things lose their value and perish but there is one Gift that will NEVER lose its value nor will it ever perish, and that is the LOVE of God which was demonstrated so greatly on a Black Friday, a.k.a. Good Friday, over two-thousand years ago. Let’s look at Matthew 27:35-45, particularly, verse 45

35 And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots. 36 And sitting down they watched him there;37 And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS. 38 Then were there two thieves crucified with him, one on the right hand, and another on the left. 39 And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads, 40 And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross. 41 Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said, 42 He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.
43 He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God. 44 The thieves also, which were crucified with him, cast the same in his teeth. 45 Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.

Now, in verse 45, we see that for THREE (3) hours, there was DARKNESS all over the land. Have you ever been in a blackout? Have you ever been in a situation where it was pitch black and you could see nothing….? Jesus was giving His life in exchange for our sins. He was becoming the ultimate sacrifice for us….so that we could be reconciled back to God the Father. It was a Black Friday!

I know that what Jesus did on the cross will never depreciate, lose its value, or perish, however, if we don’t accept God’s love (the gift of SALVATION) through Jesus’ death, burial & resurrection, we shall also likewise perish (Luke 13:5; Luke 24:47).

Another thing I want to mention about Black Friday is that people are rushing and fighting to get supposed “deals” and super “markdown” prices. Some of these same people will stand in line for hours (and in extreme cases, days), to purchase items which can do nothing for your soul. But sadly, on the flip side of that, I cannot say that I have seen anybody standing in line for hours/days to go to church to hear the Word of God.

Let’s take a look at Matthew 6:19-21

19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

So I ask you, Which Black Friday is more meaningful to you?

          BLACK FRIDAY                 OR                            BLACK FRIDAY?

Thanksgiving: A Day or A Daily Attitude?

As I sit and ponder the manifold things which I must do to prepare for this “day” of Thanksgiving, I couldn’t help but think, “Does being thankful begin on November 27th (or whatever the 4th Thursday of November is) and end on November 28 (or whenever the last Friday of November is)?

My answer is this: I am thankful EVERY DAY that God allows me to live. I am thankful that I have what Jesus talked about in Matthew 6:25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?”

Yes, I have food, drink, and clothes, thank You Jesus. I am thankful that I have a home to live in because in 2009, my husband and I were living from motel to motel. We’ve been living here for almost 4 years.

I am also thankful that God has been our provider, without fail. Through lack and struggle, God has always provided.

I am thankful for being married to the same man for 15 years (November 4). I am thankful because even though it seemed as if our marriage was doomed in the earlier years, we are still here…..Stronger than before! Why/ Because we changed our attitudes and we’re thankful. See, in our marriage, what we THOUGHT was bad, could have been worse. What we took for granted, could have been taken, but GOD, in His infinite wisdom, knew that we would, with His help, overcome every weapon that was formed against our union. For that I am thankful.

I am thankful today to be alive. I have a medical condition that can take a turn for the worse at any moment, but I am thankful to be able to still be above ground, enjoying life, and experiencing new life.

When I look at the sky, I think about Jesus coming through, just behind the angels who will be blowing the trumpet announcing His coming. I’m thankful – EVERY DAY!

When I feel the wind blow, I can’t see it to know where it goes, but I am thankful because it reminds me of the Holy Spirit.

When I see the sun shining, I think about THEE SON of God.….who shed His precious blood for me…..I am thankful.

When I think of my children….how God allowed them to form in my womb….what an awesome experience (one that our male counterparts can never experience…lol), I am thankful – EVERY DAY!

When I reminisce about how God kept me and my loved ones from dangers seen and unseen, known and unknown, I am thankful – EVERY DAY!

So, while Thanksgiving day is the day when most will stop to give thanks, let’s make it a practice and a lifestyle to give God thanks EVERY DAY!

Have you been feeling like GOD won’t forgive you? Do you feel like you messed up so badly that GOD just won’t forgive you? Well, GOD is a forgiving GOD. HE knows that we are dust and that we do things that are wrong, sometimes. I encourage you to trust GOD and HIS FORGIVENESS. All you have to do is ask HIM to forgive you, mean it, and then don’t do that thing again.
See, it is the job of the enemy to make you think that GOD is so mad at you that HE won’t or somehow can’t forgive you. You cheated on your spouse? If you are truly sorry about it, and asked GOD to forgive you, HE HAS. HE no longer is holding it against you.
Stole something that didn’t belong to you and think GOD won’t forgive you? If you have asked GOD to forgive you, and mean it, HE HAS and no longer holding it against you.

Maybe you weren’t a good parent to your child/children. Maybe you weren’t a good child. Were you on drugs? Selling your body for money or drugs? Did you murder someone? Hurt someone that caused them much physical and/or mental pain? If you are truly sorry and have asked GOD to forgive you, HE HAS and HE IS NO LONGER HOLDING IT AGAINST YOU.

Don’t allow the enemy continue to make you feel guilty about something you have done. GOD is not the one making you feel guilty. Once HE has forgiven you, it’s done.

So, cheer up! GOD loves you! Oh yes HE DOES. HE proved it by sending HIS Son to take our penalty of sin. Now THAT’S forgiveness and that’s love.

Now, since you know that GOD forgives and HAS ALREADY FORGIVEN YOU, stop beating up yourself; stop allowing the devil to beat you up; stop allowing others to beat you up and walk in the forgiveness of GOD. AMEN.
